An Evening with Mary Eden: From Trad Climber to Century Crack | Climb On Equipment

Climb On Equipment × Wild Country

In collaboration with Wild Country, Climb On Equipment recently welcomed professional climber Mary Eden to our Squamish store for an evening of stories, laughter, and an honest look at the journey behind one of the world’s most iconic crack climbs: Century Crack (5.14b).

Mary Eden at Climb On Equipment in Squamish, presented in collaboration with Wild Country.

Rather than focusing solely on the send itself, Mary takes us behind the scenes of what it actually took to get there. From discovering a love of adventure climbing in Utah’s White Rim, to learning how to embrace projecting, to spending a year training alongside close friend Sam McIlwain, her story is a reminder that big goals are rarely accomplished alone.

Throughout the presentation, Mary shares the lessons she learned from mentors like Tom Randall and Pete Whittaker, the realities of training for one of the world’s hardest offwidth roof cracks, and why the friendships built along the way ultimately mattered more than the grade.

Whether you’re an experienced trad climber, just beginning to explore crack climbing, or simply enjoy hearing the stories behind remarkable ascents, Mary’s enthusiasm is contagious. It’s a thoughtful conversation about persistence, community, and finding joy in the process.

A huge thank you to Wild Country for partnering with us to bring Mary to Squamish and helping make this community event possible.
