Our Commitment to the Climbing Community
At Climb On Equipment, our commitment to the climbing community goes beyond providing high-quality gear. It is part of why we exist, written into our ethos from the beginning and a guiding principle we follow. We have consistently supported organizations that work towards promoting the sport of climbing, protecting access, and developing areas and routes. We believe in making climbing accessible to everyone and strive to create a welcoming and safe space for all.
I. Supporting Climbing Access and Conservation
We actively support organizations dedicated to promoting and protecting the sport of climbing, ensuring that current and future generations can enjoy it to its fullest. Whether through partnerships with advocacy groups or contributions to local initiatives, we take pride in championing the values that make climbing a unique and vibrant community. Locally, we've partnered with groups like SAS and regionally with organizations to offer donations, hardware discounts, and products that raise revenue for local access groups. We make yearly donations to CASBC and SAS and proudly sponsor this year's WAG Bag program, helping to clean up crags and preserve climbing areas for everyone. Additionally, we support route development efforts such as the Sea to Sky Route Development Fund.
II. Climb On Brand Commitment
Our commitment to access groups goes beyond annual donations — we have built our brand around it. 5% of proceeds from all Climb On Equipment Brand sales go to access groups across Canada. This initiative originally began with a $2 donation from our chalk sales, but we felt we could do more. That's why we extended our commitment to include all products under our brand.
III. Fostering Inclusion and Diversity
We believe in fostering inclusion and diversity within the climbing world. That's why we partner with clubs, festivals, and events that bring people together and create opportunities for everyone to feel welcome. Our ethos is rooted in the idea that climbing is for all—a shared passion that transcends backgrounds and builds bridges. Through initiatives like Project Pride, the Tree Line Festival, and the Rock and Rise Festival, we support efforts that celebrate diversity and provide safe spaces for underrepresented groups in climbing. Organizations like the Climbing Adaptive Society and events that promote accessibility ensure that people of all abilities can share in the joy of climbing.
IV. Strengthening Community Connections
Born from within the climbing community, Climb On Equipment is owned and operated by members who share firsthand experiences of the challenges and joys of the sport. We support local climbing clubs such as the Varsity Outdoor Club at UBC, the Kootenay Climbing Association, and the Okanagan Bouldering Society. We're proud to contribute to climbing and outdoor recreation programs held by St'a7mes School and non-profit climbing facilities such as The Cube in Nelson, BC. By fostering these connections, we empower climbers of all backgrounds to pursue their goals and thrive in a supportive environment.
V. Promoting Climbing Events and Competitions
We proudly promote bouldering and climbing competitions across the country for climbers of all age groups. From local competitions like the Rampage Bouldering Competition to provincial championships with Sport Climbing BC, we aim to celebrate and grow the sport. Events hosted by Climb Base 5 and Ground Up Climbing Gym, as well as the Crop Tops N' Rocks Outdoor Boulder Competition, highlight the vibrancy of the climbing community.
VI. Celebrating Climbing Culture
Climb On Equipment also supports the broader climbing culture by partnering with events like the Reel Rock Tour and VIMFF, bringing inspiring films and stories to the community. We're proud to support independent climbing film releases, such as Girl Gone Hueco, which showcase the passion and creativity within our sport.
A shared passion, a bright future
We are proud to be a respected part of the climbing community, inspired and united by a shared passion for this amazing environment. Our commitment extends beyond climbing itself—we're here to build connections, nurture a supportive community, and encourage everyone to explore and enjoy the world of climbing. Together, we can continue to inspire, connect, and grow as climbers and as a community.
