Every year brings updated gear, new inventions, thoughtful tweaks and cosmetic changes. Sometimes the improvements are subtle; sometimes they're game-changers.

For 2027, we're looking forward to updates that focus on what matters when you're climbing: better fit, lighter equipment, improved handling and more confidence in your kit.

Here are five new products we're excited to see coming.

01 · Climbing Shoes

SCARPA Veloce Lace: Comfort Meets a More Precise Fit

The Veloce is known for its soft, comfortable feel and suitability for long indoor sessions. For 2027, the new lace-up version adds another level of adjustability, letting climbers fine-tune the fit across the foot.

An improved heel and customizable lacing bring a more refined fit to this comfort-focused shoe, with bouldering performance still firmly in the picture. It's an interesting option for climbers who want a softer shoe without sacrificing a secure fit.

What's New Lace-up adjustability and a redesigned heel for improved fit and grip.

02 · Climbing Shoes

La Sportiva Solution: A Fresh Take on a Modern Classic

The Solution has long been a go-to for steep sport routes and demanding boulder problems. For 2027, La Sportiva is refining the design with changes focused on fit, heel hooking and toe engagement.

The Precision Wrap System improves the connection between the heel and upper. A redesigned heel cup uses sticky rubber with tuned thicknesses to improve friction, while an expanded toe patch provides more rubber where powerful toe hooks demand it.

These updates focus on the technical details that matter when you're trying hard.

03 · Belay Devices

EDELRID PINCH II: An Extra Layer of Security

The EDELRID PINCH II takes a different approach to belaying, with direct attachment to the harness and a design built around close controlled rope handling.

The upcoming update adds an integrated locking slider that blocks the opening button. This provides additional security to the mechanism while retaining the benefits of direct harness attachment.

It's a small addition, but one that addresses an important detail to an already amazing tool

04 · Trad Protection

DMM Dragon 3 Air: Less Weight, More Range

Trad climbers know that every piece adds up. The DMM Dragon 3 Air is designed to cut weight without abandoning the features that make the Dragon a versatile cam.

At roughly 30% lighter than the Dragon 2, the weight savings come from details including hollow axles, a thinner steel cable and a more streamlined thumb stop.

The variable camming angle is another key change, designed to improve usable placement range and overlap. It also retains the extendable sling, helping reduce the need for separate quickdraws on your rack.

For long pitches and big days where every gram counts, that combination is worth a closer look.

What's New Around 30% less weight, variable camming geometry and a retained extendable sling.

05 · Quickdraws

Blue Ice Manta Quickdraw: Lightweight, Easy Handling

The new Blue Ice Manta quickdraw brings together lightweight hardware and a sling designed for practical use on the wall.

Each carabiner weighs just 24 g and features a generous 24 mm gate opening for easier handling, including when wearing gloves or working with larger hands.

The soft, supple, dual-layer sling protects the inner Dyneema from wear and UV degradation while helping reduce the chance of gear being dragged out of a placement.

With lengths of 12, 18, 35 and 55 cm, the Manta offers a soft, durable solution to quickdraws.

What's New 24 g carabiners, 24 mm gate openings and a protective dual-layer sling in four lengths.
