Join us for four social evenings to launch you into the ice-climbing season with our season kick-off series. Gain local ice knowledge, learn about gear, stay safe in avalanche terrain, and connect with fellow ice climbers.

What to Expect: 

A casual & social evening series with Q&A sessions to help guide you through the nuances of West Coast ice climbing: Ask all those questions you have about how to find the ice and the conditions. Bring in your gear and let us help you set things up right, meet fellow ice climbers, learn to assess avalanche dangers and which routes to avoid. Join us as we break down the barriers to entering this wonderfully magical sport.

The Subtle Art of West Coast Ice Hunting - Come learn how to find the routes, where we get the information and ask questions about approaches and conditions from local seasoned veterans willing to share their hard-earned knowledge. Q&A with local experts and guidebook author.

November 9th

Gear Tips & Tricks - Come meet the local gear reps from all the ice brands. As well as our expert ice staff on duty, we will have the true gear geeks on hand to help show you the latest gear. Bring your boots and we will help perfect your setup. Q&A with reps from Petzl, Edelrid, CAMP, BD & Mammut.

December 7th

“Chicks with Picks” Ladies Night - Come connect with women who share your passion for ice climbing. Dedicated local female ice climbers with years of experience will be joining you to mingle and answer your questions.

December 14th

Ice-Specific Avalanche Hazards on the Coast -  Come learn from an avalanche professional combined with a local guide to help you avoid dangerous zones and learn when to go and when not to. Use the official avalanche tools available to asses conditions then overlay the specific routes that pose the most risk. Q&A with a local guide and well-known ice climber and an Avalanche Canada forecaster.
