Waking Up in the Alpine

Photo Essay

Sunrises and Sunsets in the Alpine

Waking up to witness mother nature's beauty as the first light makes the mountains glow is one of the most memorable alpine climbing moments. Sunset or sunrise light makes the mountains burst with red light and capturing these moments in images is a passion of Lukas Mann.

About Lukas: Lukas's childhood was split between two beautiful islands — Prince Edward Island on the east coast of Canada and Java in Indonesia. While these two islands were full of stunning landscapes, one thing always seemed to be missing for Lukas: Mountains.

In a search for a frequent dose of mountain motivation, Lukas grew up reading classic tales of mountaineering and alpine exploits and yearned for the thrill of those same adventures. After moving to BC one year ago, he started exploring the coast range and has began to fulfill his wonder by visiting some of the most beautiful, hostile, and rugged environments.
