It can also be used as a ratchet in an ascent system or within a pulley system (e.g. for use in a lightweight crevasse rescue rope kit for professional ski guides or similar). The Quickie Ascender™ is designed to be used with 6mm high tech cord (e.g. Sterling brand 6mm HTC).
