Detailed Description

A pioneer among its peers: the first climbing helmet featuring the patented MIPS technology, the Wall Rider MIPS offers maximum safety and protection from impacts caused by tumbling rocks or falls. When the Wall Rider MIPS helmet is subjected to an angled impact, the low friction layer allows the helmet to slide relative to the head. This means that some portion of the rotational forces and energies acting on the head at impact are redirected and absorbed rather than transferred to the brain, reducing the risk of brain injury. The Wall Rider MIPS combines a cushioning EPP (Expanded Polypropylene) core with a partial hard shell for maximum safety. At just 250g (size 56-61cm), this helmet is a real lightweight. The Wall Rider feels very comfortable to wear thanks to its ergonomic fit and pleasant cushioning. Be safer in the mountain with the Wall Rider MIPS.

What is “Dated” PPE and what are the key facts to know?

What does PPE stand for?
PPE stands for Personal Protective Equipment.

What does “dated” mean?
“Dated” means the product is still well within its expected life cycle of use — it is not expired or unsafe, just manufactured some time ago.

What is the general lifespan for sewn goods?
Global testing and safety standards suggest a 7–10 year lifespan for sewn goods.

What is included in “sewn goods”?
Common sewn goods include: Ropes, Slings & Runners, Harnesses, Helmets, Packs, Vests & Airbags

How old is the dated product?
On average, the product is between 8 months to 2+ years old (max).

Where does the product come from?
All products are manufactured by Mammut, meet their strict quality standards, and are supplied directly by Mammut.

Why is it dated?
Mammut had overstock inventory stored off-site that wasn’t cycled through their regular fulfillment process — the products sat in storage until recently discovered.

Why buy dated PPE?
The product is identical to current in-line products with no compromise on quality or safety. The only difference is a shorter suggested lifespan of use — and it’s available at a discounted price.

Who is this suitable for?
Dated PPE is perfect for climbers who expect to use the gear regularly and will get the full lifespan out of it in the next 3–5 years — such as weekend craggers who typically wear through a rope or harness in that timeline.

You can feel confident in Mammut PPE and their transparency about these details — so you know exactly what to expect and why.
