A compact mobile fall arrester built as the standard entry point into Petzl's rope access fall-arrest system.
The ASAP rides freely along the rope during normal movement, requiring no manual operation as you move up, down, or across vertical, horizontal, or angled rope. The moment a fall or uncontrolled descent exceeds 2 m/s, it blocks the rope automatically and stays reliable even if grabbed mid-fall, with a toothed wheel that keeps grip on rope in frozen or dirty condition where a smoother mechanism would slip. It installs and removes at any point along the rope without needing to feed an end through, and pairing it with the right energy absorber lets you dial in working distance from the rope — the ASAP'SORBER 20 or 40 for standard single-user work, or the ASAP'SORBER AXESS when the setup needs to extend to two-person rescue scenarios.
ASAP Mobile Fall Arrester vs ASAP LOCK Mobile Fall Arrester
The ASAP and ASAP LOCK share the same core function: both ride freely along the rope during normal use and automatically block on a fall or uncontrolled descent exceeding 2 m/s. The ASAP LOCK adds an integrated LOCK function, allowing the user to manually immobilize the device to reduce potential fall distance in exposed positions or prevent the rope from blowing upward in high wind — a feature the standard ASAP does not have. This added function comes with a weight difference: 190 g for the ASAP versus 335 g for the ASAP LOCK. Choose the ASAP for standard rope access and fall-arrest applications, or the ASAP LOCK when reduced fall distance control or wind resistance is a priority for the job at hand.
