Heading to the gym?
Make sure you’ve got everything you need for an enjoyable session, whether you’re bouldering, projecting routes, or just hanging out socially while pretending to warm up.
We broke down what we carry in our gym bag, and as you’d expect, every climber’s got their quirks. Some pack training gadgets like a Tindeq Progressor or a pull block for no-hang sessions; others bring a second pair of shoes for different wall angles (or just because they can’t decide).
We even asked our staff what they carry, and got some funny answers. You can read those at the bottom, but first, let’s start with the more common essentials.

Staff Answers
We asked the team what weird or wonderful things they bring to the gym. Here are their favourite quirks and must-haves.
Kris - Spare snacks to appease any "hangry" climbing partner & an old, clean plastic peanut butter container to store extra chalk.
Mike - A skipping rope for warming up and belay glasses to save his neck.
Ryan - An assortment of brushes. (Apart from a red scratch brush)
Eric - Reading glasses, because his arm isn't long enough to let his eyes focus anymore!
Amy - Hut Booties, to keep her feet warm while belaying.
Karina - A Theraband, tape, 3 pairs of shoes, extra chalk, hand cream and probably a picture of a cat!
