Come join Black Diamond & Climb On Equipment this summer for the Golden Carabiner Scavenger hunt. Spend the day hunting down one of 30 hidden golden carabiners.

What: A scavenger hunt event, open to all, where you and your partner have to find the hidden Golden Carabiners located on routes within the sea to sky corridor. You will be provided with a clue sheet and map to help you. Solve the clues and use the map to unlock the secret location of the golden carabiners. Return the golden carabiners to Climb On Equipment and you and your belayer will win prizes from Black diamond

When: July 27th, 2024, Starts at 7am

Where: Starts and finishes at Climb On Equipment in Squamish, 37873 Cleveland Avenue. All routes with carabiners will be located within the Sea to Sky corridor. You will be emailed a clue sheet at 7am in case you can't make it to the start.

Who: Open to all, grades will range from 5.6 to 5.12. Teams of two will work best as each carabiner will have a prize for climber and belayer but feel free to climb in whatever group size you prefer. The routes involved will be both sport and traditional climbs but you get to decide which routes to go hunting on. Participants should be safe climbers with at least one competent lead climber.

After Party: 6pm - 10pm Howe Sound Brew Pub (Restaurant Side)

Cost: $20 Cdn - All proceeds will be donated to the Squamish Access Society. All participants need to register for the event.

Event Details: Each climber and belayer who hands in a Golden Carabiner ticket on the day and follows the rules outlined below will receive a prize from Black Diamond ranging from a headlamp up to crash pad. Then join us for an evening at the Howe Sound Brew pub, enjoy a drink & appetizers on us.

How to win: Use the provided clue sheet & map to find the Golden Black Diamond carabiners (With a tag) attached to routes throughout the Sea to Sky Corridor. Bring the winning carabiners to Climb On Equipment to claim your prize. Clue sheets & map will be sent out via email Saturday, July 27th at 7 am, or can be picked up the morning of at Climb On.

The Clues: The clue sheet and corridor map will only be provided to those registered for the event online and have an annual membership to SAS. Use the secret list of clues and map to find the carabiner locations and go climb the route. Get stoked!

Details and Rules

  • Registration which includes a clue sheet must be purchased by both participants (belayer and climber) to redeem their golden carabiner for prizes.
  • Carabiners or information acquired before 7am on July 27th will be disqualified. Cheating will not be tolerated.
  • Both climber and belayer may redeem their Golden Carabiner for the Black Diamond prizes at Climb On Equipment between 5pm and 6.30pm on the 27th.
  • Each participant pair is only eligible to find one Golden Carabiner but both participants get a prize.
  • Once a Golden carabiner has been found participants MUST take a photo immediately of the golden carabiner where they found it.
  • Be safe and courteous of other participants, those around you, and the environment.
  • Please follow parking rules and area ethics at all times.

      @Garrick, we will email you directly but to answer your question here. The event is open to everyone, we encourage you and all Squamish climbers to join SAS but it is not a requirement to enter the event. Thanks CO

      Hello, I recently heard that in order to redeem the prizes, the contestants must be active members of SAS. I do not see this stated anywhere in the rules. Can you please confirm? Thank you
